Shortened Suite Is a lighthearted suite of dances about nine minutes in performance. It is modal/tonal in melodic design. It is a five movement set of dances, Intrada, Saraband, Furiant, Gavotte, and Tarantella written for Marilynn and David Gibson who teach trumpet and bassoon respectively at Northeast Louisiana University. The work is modal/pandiatonic and about eight minutes in length. The part is written for trumpet in C and does not go below middle C, so it could be performed on oboe if one wished to do so.
