Walter Ross~ Concertino in Silver and Bronze |

Concertino in Silver and Bronze is a flute concerto with brass and percussion as the orchestra.
It was a request of Per Brevig, the Norwegian born trombonist who was the conductor of the Julliard Brass Ensemble at that time, and for Ellen Bjornebe, a flute player and the wife of the Norwegian ambassador to the United States. They premiered the work together in New York in March of 1999.
The work opens with a slow, lyrical movement in 4/4. The second movement is waltz-like, marked "Grazioso". The last movement is an energetic Burlesco. Both the flute solo and the brass and percussion parts can be performed by competent college level musicians.
