I am a Ph.D. candidate and Jefferson Fellow in the Department of Astronomy at the University of Virginia. I work with Dr. Dana Balser, a staff scientist at the nearby National Radio Astronomy Observatory. We are studying the physical properties of Milky Way H II regions as a proxy for understanding the physical and chemical structure of the Milky Way. This project is just one of the many projects using data from the H II Region Discovery Survey (HRDS).

My research interests include radio astronomy, radio spectroscopy, radio recombination lines, H II regions, the ISM, and Galactic structure.

When I'm not studying or doing research, I volunteer with "Dark Skies, Bright Kids," an outreach program that hosts astronomy events in the community throughout the year and an astronomy club at a local elementary school each semester.
