Absalom, Absalom!

For those of you who want some help figuring out and organizing the historical events asserted by the various narrators and story-tellers in Absalom, Absalom!, I hope the following chronological summaries will be useful. None of them claims to be "the" story, but rather to outline the story as it emerges chapter-by-chapter during the experience of reading the novel. There are inconsistencies between these outlines, just as there are contradictions between the way each narrator interprets the events and characters in the story.

As of now, the outlines make no attempt to identify the source of a particular piece of information -- i.e. whether it is supplied by the novel's 3rd person narrator, or Miss Rosa, or Shreve, etc. But I have tried to indicate the page number where each "historical fact" first appears. (Page numbers refer to the Vintage International Edition, © 1990.) These outlines are works-in-progress, so if you spot a mistake, or an oversight, or any other kind of error, please let me know.
