Welcome to the Stukenberg Lab and Burke Lab website.

Dan Burke and Todd Stukenberg are two professors at the UVA medical school whose laboratories collaborate closely to study mitosis.

We study:

Kinetochores-huge protein structures assembled on mitotic chromosomes that coordinate the events of mitosis.

Spindle checkpoint- Kinetochores that have not bound microtubules are at the top of a signal transduction cascade that inhibits anaphase. This pathway prevents aneuploidy by delaying chromosome segregation until every chromosome is properly attached.

Aurora/Ipl1 Kinases-Key regulators of mitosis
