To the Parents' Corner of Interest Pages
Cerebral Palsy is a disorder of movement due to brain injury that occurs early in life. CP begins in childhood but affects people throughout their lives. You can learn a lot about CP on the web--check our internet resources pages to find out where to look. How can my child and I be in the NAGCePP study?
If your child has Cerebral Palsy he or she may be a candidate for our study!
If I agree to participate, what will be done to my child?
- Your child will have a brief, physical exam.
- Parent questionaire--we will ask you questions about your child's general health and abilities.
- Your child will be carefully measured. Measurements will include height or length, arm and leg lengths, upper arm circumference, and skinfold measurements of the upper arm and back. All measurements will take approximately 30 minutes. The measurements are not painful.
How will this benefit me or my child?
Your child's participation may lead to important information about growth in children with CP. Your help may one day enable health care professionals to take better care of children with CP and help them to lead healthier lives.
Who will see the results?
Be assured we will share all the results of the study with you. Any information we learn about your child will be used responsibly and will be ethically protected against release to unauthorized people. The results of this study will be published in medical journals, but NO publication will contain ANY information that will identify your child. If you decide to participate, you may stop and withdraw your child at any time.
