EMPLOYMENT DISCRIMINATION (LAW3 647), 1, Ms. Magill, Credits: 3

This course is an introduction to the principal federal employment discrimination
statutes. The course will focus primarily on the prohibitions on race or sex
discrimination in Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as well as the Age
Discrimination in Employment Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Federal
constitutional antidiscrimination law will also be examined where that law is relevant
to the interpretation of statutory prohibitions on discrimination.

This course will focus upon the principal federal statutes prohibiting discrimination in
employment on the basis of race or sex, especially Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of
1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and the Americans with
Disabilities Act. It will also examine the federal constitutional law of racial and sexual
discrimination, primarily as it affects judicial interpretation of the preceding statutes.
