Stochastic Cellular Automata

Abstract :Cellular automata (CA) are discrete symbolic dynamical systems used to model many complex types of behavior. We give an overview of the subject, including CA's with intrinsic randomness called stochastic CA's. These provide models for some systems that can also be modeled on ODE's and as a particular example we look at a CA model used by biologists to study the spread of HIV virus in the lymph node, focussing our discussion on its mathematical properties.
