An efficient derivation of the infinity Laplacian equation




Abstract : The infinity Laplacian equation $\Delta_{\infty}u=u_{x_i}u_{j}u_{x_ix_j}=0$ arises from minimizing the $L^{\infty}$ norm of the gradient $Du$. In this talk, I will present a simple way to show that an absolute minimizer of the $L^{\infty}$ norm is a viscosity solution of the infinity Laplacian equation. This is a joint work with M.G. Crandall and Changyou Wang.
