Finite-dimensionality of the attractor for a wave equation with localized interior damping and a critical source term

Abstract : The talk will focus on a semilinear wave equation with nonlinear source and dissipation terms. We are interested in the setting where dissipation is restricted to a small subset of the domain. In addition, the growth rate of the source is allowed to reach the critical (maximal) order permitted by the well-posedness theory. I will describe key aspects of establishing existence and finite-dimensionality of the global compact attractor for such a dynamical system.
