SACRAMENTO NORTHERN ON-LINE

Sacramento streets of the 1920s were crowded with interurbans, trolleys, and Model Ts.
8th & K Streets was a major hub, with the Central California Traction Co. station in the
large corner building. A in-bound SNRR Woodland Local train can be seen to the right.

SN On-line was created as a meeting place and reference for fans of the Sacramento Northern Railway, once one of America's greatest electrified railroads. Unlike many other railroad companies, the SN currently has no historical society dedicated exclusively to preserving and sharing its history. Information about the line is scattered between a number of archives and museums. Nor has there ever been a definitive book on the SN's history, although it has been covered in many lesser works and articles.

These pages are an attempt to redress some of these problems and to begin exchanging information between SN fans. Currently these pages include a brief history of the SN, an annotated bibliography of SN books and articles, addresses and links to museums and archives which hold SN material, a list of surviving SN equipment, notes on modeling the SN in HO and other scales and much more. More features and photos are added with each update.

Time and distance have removed me from the SN I once knew and loved, so additions and corrections are always welcome and will be incorporated during sporadic updates.
