In this 90-minute episode---normal running time for The Virginian---Trampas is sent to buy a Mexican bull for Shiloh Ranch. Along the way, in an updating of The Three Musketeers, he runs afoul of, and becomes entangled with the aventures of, three Texas Rangers. One interesting aspect of Laredo being a spinoff of The Virginian is that The Virginian opens in the 1880s and ran into the 1890s while Laredo takes place around 1870. This episode was later repackaged and combined with bits and pieces from other episodes to produce a movie released as a feature film, Backtrack, by Universal.

All four first season Laredo regulars appeared in this episode---although Joe is identified only as Riley---along with James Drury, Doug McClure and L.Q. Jones as The Virginian, Trampas and Belden from The Virginian.
