Rose, Pelina and Tamara walk to school with their Dallas cowboys backpacks. Kasisi's children receive hand-me-downs from embassy families that pass through the area, which is probably where the back packs came from. The children at Kasisi are better provided for than many children in the surrounding area. Many local children carry their school books in old bread bags and don't put their shoes on until they reach school, for fear that they will wear out and that they will not get another pair. If children don't have shoes, they will be beaten at school.
