[Money advice from experience - best rate of exchange and cheapest is to use credit cards and get cash via ATMs, rather than American Express travelers checks. Barclays' ATMs were convenient in Russel Sq (London) and off Princess Street (Edinburgh)

Never got into the BM Reading Room; Never got to the India Office [now, in 2002, part of the British Library]
