Welcome to the Mario Kart 64 alternative
racing page!
Originally, Brent Wingert compiled an alternative
MK64 page to allow players to post times for "legitimate" alternative
paths to the official shortcut and non-shortcut racing. My page serves
a similar function except that its purpose is to extend the variety of
the original game. I have devised several alternative or "remixed" styles
of racing the original courses.
Three sections are available, links to each of these all are listed under
the Mario Kart 64 section of Navigation (left column).
To submit times and discuss strategies go to THIS
TOPIC on the Mario Kart 64 messageboard.

Kalimari Desert Alternate
(created by Andrew Weatherton)
Description:
Do a fast lap while going through the train tunnel.
Current Strategy:
Cut close to the rock wall on your left at the beginning and use two
shrooms to keep your speed up. Stay close to the wall and then jump
the fence and enter the tunnel. follow the tunnel around and keep
going on the tracks until you can finally turn left, cut hard, shroom
and finish the flap as usual. |

Wario Stadium Alternate
(created by Andrew Weatherton)
Description:
Rather than using the regular 4 second per lap series of wall jumps,
you must wait to jump the wall until atleast after the first straightaway,
as soon as the first turn begins, you may jump the wall. But, you
are not allowed to jump back over the wall on that first straight.
So, you may not use either shortcut used in regular SC racing.
Current Strategy:
My strategy involves jumping 3 walls, the first one is right after
the first turn and the second is the wall straight across the way
from that. This involves quite a bit of jumping, so get ready for
some extreme acrobatics. If you want to see more, watch my video.
There is definitely room for improvement and, perhaps, some crazy
shortcut legend will dare jump an additional wall. I can think of
atleast one that would net a faster time.
RULES:
No Lakitu shortcuts. |

Frappe Snowland, SnowMario
(created by Marius Hukkelaas)
Description:
Race backwards and around the giant Snow Mario but be sure to come
back and trigger the next lap.
Current Strategy:
Spin around and race back to the giant Snow Mario. Go clockwise
around him and come back to the finish line. Trigger the next lap
using the regular 3lap method.
Lemire's shroom strat: "I used one at the normal place
where you usually use one for N-sc and the other 2 on the SC. I
took the shortcut the normal way jump from bridge to snow then I
shroomed got stuck put back on bridge and shroomed to line."
Weatherton's shroom strat: I use one shroom to get over that
hump on your right by the first snowmen you see. I then use the
next at the regular non-sc spot to get over that big hill and then
use one to get over the snow and trigger 90% complete lap.
RULES:
Must be done on first lap.
