Troy, West Virginia, is a small community located near the center of the state. Troy is a few miles west of US33 on State Rt 47 and about 22 miles west of Weston WV. According to Place Names in West Virginia by Mary M. Jenkins, Troy was founded in 1857. The Troy Elementary School, a nationally recognized blue ribbon school, has a web site here.

Just beyond the "Troy" sign above, is a road that seems to have lost the battle with a stream.


The Troy WV Post Office is a small building on Rt 47 with a unique sign.
