Troy, Ohio, is just north of Dayton, Ohio, and bills itself as a "Red Carnation Community" as well as "Tree City USA". This welcome sign is located on State Route 55 on the west side of town one of the exits off of Interstate 75. Because of this web page, we were invited to attend the annual Strawberry Festival in Troy which takes place in the first weekend of June each year. We were delighted to attend in 2002.

From The Columbia Encyclopedia, Sixth Edition. 2001
City (1990 pop. 19,478), seat of Miami co., W central Ohio, on the Great Miami River, in a farm area; inc. 1814. Food-processing machinery, motor generators, paper products, and tools are manufactured. Growth and industrialization came with the arrival of the Miami and Erie Canal in 1837. A disastrous flood in 1913 resulted in the creation of the first flood protection district in the United States. Note: the levee constructed along the Miami River is also used as part of the city park.

We found strawberries painted on the streets and sidewalks. According to Joy Turner-Price of the Miami County Visitors Bureau, the annual Troy Strawberry Festival (2001, 2002) takes place the first weekend in June. She recommends the strawberry donuts and the strawberry burritos.

The Troy OH Post Office is located on Route 55 just west of the downtown area. Across the street and further west are a number of beautiful homes.
